Aboriginal Community Relations

Aureus Energy is committed to promoting Aboriginal Involvement in the areas which we and our clients operate. We believe the communities should benefit from the economic activity occurring on reserve, and traditional land use areas. Aureus strives to increase First Nations participation in our operations.

Educational Scholarships and Bursaries

Aureus supports programs aimed towards increasing Aboriginal participation in post-secondary schooling in the Northern Alberta region. In partnership with the Grande Prairie Regional College we have made available several awards for First Nations to continue and enhance their post-secondary schooling

Aureus Energy Services is supporting Indigenous Students at GPRC with 5 Bursaries annually

 

Communities:

Applicants must be attending GPRC in any year of study in any program. First preference will be given to Indigenous students from one of the following communities:

  • Horse Lake First Nation

  • Sturgeon Lake First Nation

  • Aseniwuche Community

  • Alexander First Nation

  • Alexis First Nation 


Requirements:

  1. Applicants must have successfully completed one academic year of studies with a minimum 60% course load and a 1.7 GPA.  Applicants must also provide a statement describing their link, if any, to the above listed communities to receive preference.

  3. Secondary preference will be given to Indigenous students from any other community.
  4.  

  5. If a student cannot be identified using the preferred criteria, the awards will be handed out to full time students using standard bursary criteria, based on highest financial need.

Continuing Aboriginal Community Involvement

Aureus Energy is continually evolving our Indigenous community involvement. One of Aureus’s goals is to increase the community’s involvement in economic development, post-secondary opportunities, and community investment.
